Day 2: Khlong and city tour and Siam Niramit show
The tour starts at NRGH at 9.00 a.m., where your guide Jimmy takes you to the pier to board a long tail boat. From here you will sail down the main river, Chao Phraya, which runs through Bangkok. You will pass some of the big hotels and freeway bridges before making a turn to enter the small khlongs (canals).

When entering the khlongs, you will see how the local Thais live in small tree houses by the river. You will meet small long tail boat selling all kinds of food. The first stop is the snake farm, where you can see a variety of exotic animals and a snake show for an additional 150 THB. You can also just use the short break to use the toilet and get some water. At the orchid farm Jimmy will share his knowledge about the flowers and how to make a lunch pack with the leaves from palm trees. You will also stop at a temple at the river side, where holy Cat Fish will be fed. It’s an amazing sight when thousands of fish come to the surface out of nowhere.

The city tour starts from Tha Chang Pier (pier no.9) at 1:00 pm, where you will walk a short stretch of road from the pier to the Grand Palace.

The Grand Palace is a vast ground with several temples and stupas. Among other things, the Grand Palace is home to Wat Phra Keo, the Emerald Buddha, which is the holiest Buddha image in Thailand and the main attraction of the complex. The site also contains a miniature copy of Angkor Wat, as it used to look, and the impressive golden stupa – Phra Si Ratana Chedi – which contains a piece of Buddha’s breast bone.

After the Grand Palace, the trip continues a little further south to Wat Pho, the oldest temple in Bangkok, where we visit the main attraction here – the reclining Buddha – 46 meters long and 15 meters tall. The massive sculpture is covered in gold, and its flat soles are ornamented with Buddha’s 108 omens of happiness in mother of pearl.

Next attraction is Wat Arun – Temple of Dawn, which is located on the Thonburi side of Chao Phraya. The 81 meter high stupa with its characteristic Khmer architecture dressed in mosaics made of porcelain has gradually become the trademark of Bangkok.

Last attraction on the city tour is the pulsating Chinatown. If you were not struck by culture shock arriving in Bangkok you will surely be when you set foot in this colorful part of town. Here you will find a labyrinth of narrow alleys packed with street stalls selling fresh and preserved foods, fabrics, traditional Chinese herb medicine, gold and religious items. The tour ends by the Golden Buddha in Wat Traimit, which is located near the historic train station on the outskirts of Chinatown.

From here we go back to New Road guest House, for half an hour’s rest, before you make your way to see a spectacular theater show, Siam Niramit. (Transportation to the show is on your own, ask the service guides how to get there)

You will enjoy a big international buffet before the show (18.00-20.00) We recommend you to arrive before 19.00.

The show starts at 20.00 and pictures Thailands history, Buddhism and the magnificent festivals of Thailand, simply a beautiful cultural experience. (L, D)

Day 3: Bike tour in Bangkok
The tour begins at Tara Hotel on Sukhumvit Road, soi 26, where you will meet at 1:00 pm. You are responsible for your own transport to and from Tara Hotel. You can go by taxi or by sky train to the Phrom Phong station. You will cycle from Tara Hotel away from the trafficked roads of Bangkok through the lively Khlong Toey market. Here you’ll find a year-round, colorful mixture of Thai and Chinese goods for sale. The route will also take you through a working-class neighborhood, where you can experience yet another side of the metropolis. You’ll also head through “Little Chinatown”, where children enthusiastically wave and yell “hello” at the unusual sight of foreigners on bicycles.

When you cross the river, you will enter the jungle area, cycling on the narrow concrete pathways and enjoy the nature and the cozy atmosphere among the locals.

Day 4: Check out
Check out from New Road Guest House at 12 noon. Come by the Service Office, where the Service Guides will be happy to help you arrange other tours, transportation or hotel accommodation.
