Long distance bus aka “The fridge on wheels”. Thailand has a great net of long distance bus routes. They usually depart early evening and arrive early morning on the following day. The Long distance busses also operate during daytime hours but less frequent. Visit Beyond can help you book the tickets to the destination you desire.

Minibus is very a convenient way to travel; they have air condition, and are usually faster, because they go non-stop from destination to destination. They are not to be confused with private transfers, as 8-9 people share the bus. The price is a little higher than local busses, and tickets can not be reserved online, but at our local service office in Bangkok, we can help to guide you through the jungle of bus routes in Thailand.

Local bus is an extremely cheap way to travel, sometimes it’s even free! Not all busses are air conditioned. Tickets can not be reserved online, but at our local service office in Bangkok, we can help to guide you through the jungle of bus routes in Thailand.

Bus stations:

Bangkok has 3 main long distance bus terminals. The Northern bus station Mo Chit, is the largest and busiest serving Northern and Northeastern Thailand. To get to it you can catch the sky train to the end of the line at Mo Chit/Chatuchak market and then take a 10 minute taxi ride to the terminal. Or take a taxi directly there. Buses leave frequently throughout the day.

The newly renovated Southern bus station Pinklao is across the river in Thon Buri, servicing destinations to the South and West. It is best reached by taxi.

The Eastern bus station Ekkamai besides the Ekkamai sky train station services Pattaya, Koh Samet, Koh Chang and Eastern destinations.

FromVictory Monumentit is possible to take mini busses to destinations not too far from Bangkok such as Ayutthaya, Kanchanaburi, Koh Samet etc.

Speed boat: Many islands have speed boats taking customers between the mainland and the island. Speed boats are fast and convenient but sometimes the voyage can be interrupted by bad weather and the booked trip can be cancelled with short notice. Expect speed boats to be more expensive than ferries.

Visit Beyond has a resort at Koh Kood. You can get there by speed boat from the beginning of November until the end of April.

Ferry: Ferries come in many variations. when getting from the mainland to the desired island. In general all ferries in Thailand are safe and often come with a big seating area that in most cases will have air-condition and perhaps a place to buy small snacks and coffee. The longer the voyage the bigger and better quality of the ferry is a good guideline. Car ferries are very common at Koh Chang, Koh Samui and Koh Lanta.

High speed ferry: The above listed transfers to the islands Koh Tao, Koh Phangan and Koh Samui are with a high speed bus and ferry company. This compant is faster very efficient and generally one of the best operators in Thailand.
