DAY 1: Pick up from Bagdogra Airport, Gangtok, Darjeeling, Kalimpong, NJP Rail Station and BhadraPur Airport and to Yuksom Village (1,860m)
Today from Bagdogra Airport, Gangtok, Darjeeling, Kalimpong, NJP Rail Station and Bhadrapur Airport. Pick up and transfer to the vehicle for a beautiful 5 to 6-hour drive to the Village of Yuksom of Western Sikkim. The drive takes us through lovely forests, little hill towns, the serpentine road follows the route of Yuksom. Check in at Hotel or Lodge at Yuksom. Then in the evening meet with the camping crew. Then leisure overnight.
Day 2: Yoksum to Bakhim (2,790m)
We’ll get an early morning start when the traditional “bed tea”. After breakfast in Hotel, we’ll begin our hiking journey into Sikkim’s pristine wilderness. The hike today will last about six hours and pass through wooded hills of oaks, spruce, and giant magnolias and rhododendrons. We’ll break for lunch along the route, and then continue up the Ratong Valley, making a steep climb up to camp in Bakhim. Overnight in a forest bungalow or Camp.
DAY 3: Bakhim to Phedang (3,689m)
Today is the most challenging day of the trek as we gain altitude and the climbs are steep. After breakfast, we begin a moderate climb through yak- and sheep-grazing areas around Tshoka, a resettlement camp for Tibetan refugees and the last village encountered on the trek. This where we get our first close up view of Mount Pandim (6,693m). After Tshoka, the trail continues up through rhododendron forests to our lunch spot at Phedang (3,689m). After lunch, we will rest overnight at Phedang. Overnight in Tents.
DAY 4: Phedang to Dzongri (4,031m)
Today the trail continues up through rhododendron forests. After breakfast at Phedang (3,689m) We trek up to Dzongri ( 4,031m ). Reach Dzongri by Lunch. Overnight atDzongri.
DAY 5: Day hike to Gingay Dara (4,329m)
If the weather looks good for viewing this morning, we’ll rise at dawn and hike up to a high overlook to watch the sun rise over Mt. Kanchenjunga and the Onglathang Valley. After breakfast we will take a day hike to Gingay Dara with its panoramic views of the Ratong Valley and Ratong Glacier as well as the snowy peaks of Koktang, Kabru, Frey and mountains to the south of the Kanchenjunga. We will also be able to see in the distance the H.M.I. Base Camp, the area designated for high altitude mountain training for students undergoing basic and advanced courses with the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute. The hike to Gingay Dara is moderate, about four hour’s roundtrip. Night camp at Dzongri.
DAY 6: Dzongri to Tshoka.
Today after breakfast we trek back from Dzongri to Tshoka Village. We will have lunch for the day at Phedang and overnight cam at Tshoka, a resettlement camp for Tibetan refugees and the last village encountered on the trek. Overnight at Tshoka.
DAY 7: Tshoka to Yuksom Village.
Today after breakfast we trek back from Tshoka to Yuksom Village. We will have our lunch for the day at Shachen and after lunch trek to Yuksom. Check in at Hotel at Yuksom. Evening meet the camping crew for farewell. Leisure overnight.
DAY 8:Yuksom Village to Darjeeling, Gangtok, Kalimpong, Bhadrapur Airport, Bagdogra Airport or NJP Rail Station.
