Khao Yai Ranger Tour

Now you have the chance to go on a unique trek that’s not found anywhere else in Thailand, combining mountain biking and trekking in the unique nature of Khao Yai National Park with 2.550 km2 jungle and many different animals. On the trek you follow two rangers, who patrol the national park for snipers, illegal refugees, and check the amount of wild elephants, bears and wild tigers. You become one of the rangers, live and eat with them, and sleep in hammocks, as the rangers usually do. The route through the national park changes every time so every single trip is unique.

Day 1: Bangkok – Khao Yai
Leave from NRGH at 06.00 on your own with taxi to the Northern bus terminal, where you catch the bus to Pak Chong at 07.00 from gate no. 78. You arrive in Pak Chong at 10.00, where a minibus will be waiting to take you to the Eco Valley Lodge. Activities on this day include a mountain bike tour 20-50 km through lush and beautiful areas around the national park and the Bat cave, where millions and millions of bats fly out of the same cave. After dinner you can relax in the cosy restaurant, or enjoy the special quietness that surrounds the area around Khao Yai national park. You sleep at the resort the first night.

Day 2: Trekking in Khao Yai
After breakfast 06.30 you depart with all your gear from the resort and go to the Rangers headquarters. Bring as little as possible because it is a hard trek. On the way you have to cross rivers filled with water, depending on the season. You will also pass some saltlicks, where wild elephants stop by to get natrium. You have to be a part of the team and help find wood for the bonfire, and make everything ready for the night. Sleeping will take place in hammocks with built in mosquito nets. (B,L,D)

Day 3: Trekking in Khao Yai
Breakfast from 07.00 am before the trek starts at 08.00 am. The trek is 11 km towards Tad Daa Puuk and takes all day. On the way you can be lucky to see some of the 400 wild elephants that live in the park or some rare birds. Lunch will be served in the middle of the jungle, and once again you will spend the night in hammocks in the jungle. (B,L,D)

Day 4: Khao Yai - Bangkok
After breakfast it’s time for the last 3 hours of trekking in the jungle. You will return to Eco Valley Lodge, where you can jump in the pool or get a refreshing shower. After lunch, the mini van will take you back to the bus station, from where you will get on the local bus back to the Mo Chit bus station in Bangkok. Expected arrival at the bus station is around 19.00 pm. The trip ends at the bus station and transport back to your respective hotel is your own responsibility. (B)
