River Kwai - 2 Days
130 kilometres west of Bangkok, not far from the Burmese (Myanmar) border, you will find the bridge over the River Kwai, made (in)famous by the 1957 Academy Award-winning film of the same name. Grim history aside, this area of Thailand is rich in culture and natural beauty.

Season: The trip to the River Kwai is available year round, but northern Thailand experiences heavy rains from June to October. The best time to visit is from November to February, when it’s dry and temperatures are at their lowest, hovering around 30 degrees. By contrast, from March until May the mercury can rise to 39 degrees.
Day 1: Bangkok - Kanchanaburi:
We collect you by bus at Hotel Narai, Lebua or New Road Guest House in Bangkok at approximately 8:45 am and then drive to Kanchanaburi (~three hours). Upon arrival we check in at a local guest house and have lunch. At about 2:00 pm we board a boat and pay a visit to Khao Poon Cave. This excursion includes the war museum, war cemetery and the infamous bridge over River Kwai. Dinner is served at the resort and we get a ½ hour foot massage. The rest of the evening is set aside for free time. You may want to take a swim or sign up for some optional tours or enjoy different types of massage. (Additional tours/activities are not included in the package price.) (L, D)
Day 2: Erawan National Park:
After breakfast we continue to Erawan National Park, where we soak in the beautiful seven-level waterfall with small lakes on either side. Remember to bring your swimsuit! After lunch in a local shop we’ll visit the Hellfire pass, followed by Kra-Sae cave train station, where we board the Death Railway for a 30-minute ride that will take us to the World War II-era bridge. We return to Bangkok at the end of the day; expected arrival time between 7:00 pm and 8:00 pm (19:00-20:00). (B, L)
Remarks: For your enjoyment, we arrange trips to the River Kwai in small parties of 2 to 12 people.
